About Conference

The "International Conference on Mapping the Future of Sustainable Landscapes: Geospatial Innovations for People, Places, and Practices" aims to explore the transformative potential of geospatial technologies in addressing today’s pressing environmental, social, and economic challenges. As societies worldwide seek pathways to sustainable development, the role of spatial information science, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Big Data has become increasingly critical.
Hosted at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) in Awantipore, Kashmir, this two-day conference will serve as a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue among scholars, industry professionals, policymakers, and community leaders. Together, they will share insights and foster collaborations focused on mapping socio-economic and environmental indicators, promoting sustainable tourism, preserving cultural heritage, advancing spatial education, and leveraging geospatial solutions for disaster mitigation and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
By emphasizing innovation, collaboration, and capacity-building, the conference aspires to advance geospatial research and practical applications, nurture future-ready professionals, and contribute meaningfully to the global vision of a sustainable and resilient future.

Conference Objectives

Promote Geospatial Innovations for Sustainable Landscapes The conference aims to highlight the transformative role of geospatial technologies—including GIS, Remote Sensing, AI, IoT, and Big Data—in designing and managing sustainable landscapes. It will emphasize how innovation in spatial sciences can directly contribute to building resilient communities, protecting ecosystems, and enhancing urban and rural environments

Address Complex Global Environmental, Social, and Economic Challenges By bringing together diverse stakeholders, the conference seeks to explore how geospatial technologies can offer practical, scalable solutions to global challenges such as climate change, disaster risk reduction, poverty alleviation, urban planning, and resource management.

Foster International Collaboration Among Geospatial Stakeholders A major objective is to strengthen global networks by connecting academic researchers, industry leaders, technology innovators, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations. The conference will provide a platform for collaboration, dialogue, and the formation of new research and innovation partnerships across borders.

Advance Education and Industry-Academia Collaboration in Spatial Information Sciences Recognizing the importance of education, the conference aims to foster a dialogue on enhancing spatial information science curricula, professional training, and industry engagement. It will address strategies for integrating emerging technologies into academic programs and building stronger bridges between educational institutions and industry demands.

Support the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through Geospatial Technologies Participants will discuss the application of geospatial tools and methodologies to monitor, measure, and achieve SDG targets, particularly in areas such as sustainable cities, climate action, disaster mitigation, cultural preservation, and inclusive economic growth.

Promote Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Preservation through Mapping Innovations The conference will focus on how spatial technologies can document, protect, and promote cultural heritage sites, while simultaneously supporting the development of sustainable tourism models that benefit local communities and conserve natural and cultural resources.

Encourage Knowledge Exchange, Capacity Building, and Professional Networking Through keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, the conference aims to create an environment where participants can share latest research findings, learn from case studies, explore emerging trends, and build lasting professional relationships to drive innovation in geospatial sciences globally.
